Yoga Props

Yoga Mat & Strap

You can find yoga mats & straps just about anywhere these days! Make sure your mat is a non-slip yoga mat and not a thicker exercise mat. My favorite mat is the Jade Yoga Harmony mat. It's a little pricey but has great grip. You can find less expensive options at Walmart, Target or Amazon.

Substitutes: Non-slip floor & a belt or tie.

Myofascial Release Balls

These Roll Model Balls will become your best friends! We use them regularly to work out those tight, painful areas of our body that prohibit functional movement.

The Roll Model balls come in three sizes: Original Yoga Tune Up Balls are a little smaller than a tennis ball; Therapy Ball Plus is slightly larger than a tennis ball, and the Alpha, which is about the size of a grapefruit. You can purchase them through my affiliate link. I use all three sizes in class because they have different feels but all three are not necessary.

Substitute: Two tennis balls & a sock.

Soft Foam Roller

Soft foam rollers are great for a variety of self-myofascial release moves for the whole body. The key to a good foam roller is that it is soft, not super hard and has some grip to it. These from OPTP are the ones I recommend. A little pricey though.

Substitute: A thick blanket that can be rolled up.

Yoga Blocks

3"-4" foam yoga blocks. My personal favorite are from Hugger Mugger because they are light but firm.

Substitute: A hardcover book about the same size

Pilates Ball

The Yoga Tune Up Coregeous ball is an inflatable 7"-9" rubber ball. We'll use this in a variety of creative ways. You can purchase it through my affiliate link. It comes in purple and black - both are the same size.

Substitute: A similar size inflatable rubber ball. Sometimes a rolled up yoga mat or a pillow will suffice.

Resistance Loops or Bands

We use resistant loops and bands to provided added resistance to many postures to aid in building strength & stability. Resistance loops and bands come in a variety of resistance. A light and a medium band will suffice but get a heavier one if you are ready for more challenge.

Substitute: There are many kinds of resistance loops and bands on Amazon and they are not that expensive.
