When the check engine light comes on in our car we don't say "well, my car is getting older, this is expected"...we would take it to a mechanic and have the car taken care of.

When we feel stiff, tight, have lost range of motion and strength, or feel pain in our body, we often do say "well, I'm getting older, this is expected".


Actually, stiff, tight muscles, loss of range of motion and strength, or pain is your body's check engine light.  Sometimes though, just like our cars, we need some expert help to keep us running smoothly.  

Hi, I'm Carolyn. I'm a licensed massage therapist and movement educator specializing in pain management and improving functional movement in active middle-age and older adults. I have over 15 years of experience working with people who want to feel better and move with more ease so they can keep doing the things they love to do as they age. Learn more.

I am a cyclist and I do weight training at least 3 times a week, and I am old and have had back issues since my 20's. I am extremely pleased with Carolyn's work on my many issues. I tend to overdo it when I exercise and she has the skill and patience to help me work out the stiffness and soreness I often inflict on myself. She is generous with some very useful suggestions on how to improve my fitness and how to avoid developing bad exercise habits. Most importantly, I have a particular problem with my upper back that started 10 years ago. I have been to MD's, chiropractors, physical therapists, and voodoo practitioners in an effort to relieve the pain with little success. The massage techniques that Carolyn uses has solved the problem. I am forever grateful to her for her work in keeping me pain-free.
