11/27/2017 0 Comments The Beauty of SabbaticalWith deep gratitude, I want to give thanks from the depth of my heart, being and soul. Not only for just this year but the whole entire of my life. There are many people in my life I want to give thanks to as they've been a blessing at the different phase of my life. As Nita shared, Sabbatical = creating space to let God create a new us. Not merely transform. During the Sabbatical, I healed in many areas as I unpeeled into the layers of myself. It is not just a new me arises as we evolve all the time but the reclaiming of who I am all along. To my beloved parents, they know best in whatever way they know how to raise me. What I value most is that they taught me to be an honest person, live an honest living. My mother taught me to live within my means, to live what I can afford. To live simply and be blessed in whatever I have. (In this Sabbatical, I healed my relationship with money.) To all the studies in the educational system, with different teachers, mentors and supervisors from primary education to master in dance therapy and all the courses I took. I value all the knowledge I had gained. They've given me great tools and skills and equipped me in my work and ministry. Education itself is good. It is just the way how it is being run needs to be changed. I want to thank all my teachers, mentors, supervisors including religious who have encouraged, supported and taught me many valuable lessons. (In this Sabbatical, I healed my relationship with authority and systems.) To all the work experiences I had including internships and collaboration. The vast wide experiences I had gained is very valuable including witnessed and experienced the downside of the way how I was treated or being treated and how others were being treated. I had both unpleasant and amazing work experiences as well as collaboration. Through the painful and beautiful lessons, I learnt what is collaboration. (In this Sabbatical, I healed my relationship with competition.) Living in two different countries, work in two different countries, working with diversified cultures and travelling to various countries, both work and leisure, open my eyes and understand how we human are influenced by our cultures, how our belief system are being moulded including my own. (In this Sabbatical, I healed my relationship with belief system.) To all my friends, clients (babies to elderly), mentees and learners I have met, taught, shared, acquainted and journeyed with, I thank you! (In this sabbatical, I healed my relationships with the people who had hurt and I had hurt and letting go.) Other areas I healed my relationship with are religions, punitive approaches (tough love), values, masculine and feminine in me, boundary settings (life-work balance), judgemental lens. My husband, Jeroen, has his own personal transformation too! If we heal ourselves and take time out to go deeper into ourselves in silence, in solitude, in retreats, we are able to empower others fully and hold them with love and compassion. Empowering is about affirming their innate wisdom, acknowledging their innate source, that they know what is best for themselves (rephrasing a conversation what Nita has shared.) If we ourselves are empowered, making time to listen to our innate wisdom, acknowledge our innate source and gifts and know deeply what is best for ourselves, because we walk it, we are then able to with others we are emplaced with I share I felt like a new born in my face book page. Like Nita shared, 'A New Me!' Like Celine in AM affirmed, 'I am clear on what I want.' Yes it is a new ME! Ready to embrace the new coming year 2018 with deepest heartfelt gratitude!
